The Bert Transmission 1300 Gen II Aluminum Short Transmission is a second-generation 2-speed clutchless racing transmission designed specifically for Late Model, Modified, Stock Car, and other circle track racing applications . Engineered with an innovative low-drag design, the Gen II transmission significantly reduces rotating weight, allowing more engine power to reach the rear wheels for quicker acceleration and improved lap times.
Unlike conventional racing transmissions, the 1300 Gen II Short completely disengages the first and reverse gear assemblies while operating in direct drive (high gear), reducing internal drag and component wear. Measuring 19 inches overall length —approximately 2-5/8 inches shorter than a Muncie transmission —this compact unit offers easier installation in race chassis while maintaining exceptional strength and reliability.
